Roseanne Barr

Main Offenses

Conspiracy Theories

Generically a fan of Qanon, She has shared links promoting Pizzagate, an outlandish conspiracy that high level democrats were trafficking children in a Washington, DC pizzeria. Additionally, she peddled nonsense about Democrats covering up the death of a staffer.

Seemingly as a point of comparison to the Democratic Party, she has claimed Trump is freeing hundreds of children held in sex rings around the world. Lest you think she actually cares about children, she took time to falsely claim that Parkland shooting survivor and teen activist David Hogg did a Nazi salute.

Racism

She infamously compared Valerie Jarrett, a black former advisor to President Obama, to an ape while somehow simultaneously disparaging Muslims. She doubled down by claiming Muslims are not a race. She tried to claim that her medicine was responsible for these tweets, for which the manufacturer of said medicine had to publically state “racism is not a known side effect” of their products. She then tried to spin it as “political not racial,” as if that excused the racism rather than tying her political affiliation to the misdeed.

Conspiracy Theory Racism

She has a long history, even before the Trump administration, of racist and conspiracy theory tweets. During the administration she has tried to link the Chelsea Clinton and George Soros on twitter, furthering the anti-Semitic trope of a cabal infiltrating high levels of government. She additionally claimed Soros was a collaborator during the holocaust, to try to further discredit his name, even though he’s a Holocaust survivor who has committed billions of dollars to human rights issues around the world.

Pals with Trump

During Trump’s presidential campaign she defended his platform, including his law and order stance and anti-immigration rhetoric. As an Unrepentant supporter of Trump, she reacted to his initial win by saying she was seemingly glad the “people have assumed power” and congratulated America on its choice.

After her show was restarted on ABC to high ratings, she received a personal congratulations call from Trump. This call was confirmed by then Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Trumps family took time to express their gratitude that she shaped her new show as a refuge for their ideals. Roseanne also saw her show as an opportunity to express these values and ideals.

After she was fired for her racism, Trump wanted to know why ABC called to apologize to Ms. Jarrett for Roseanne’s racist remarks, but not to him for some reason.

Trump Tweets

Trump defends Roseanne’s racist remarks with a healthy dose of whataboutism.

Trump thanks Roseanne for her support in the presidential race.
